As part of the Somerset Village Agents project this website has been set up to provide information, advice and support to residents in Axbridge, Cheddar, Wedmore, Shipham, Chapel Allerton, Mark & Weare. For details on the Village Agents' programme in other areas of Somerset click here.
The Somerset Village Agent project is a project of Community Council for Somerset. The project uses paid, part time, highly trained individuals living in the parish ‘clusters’ they support. They help to bridge the gap between isolated, excluded, vulnerable and lonely individuals and statutory and/or voluntary organisations which offer specific solutions to identified needs. Village Agents offer a signposting and referral service with a difference. Anyone can contact their Village Agent for support, advice or guidance.
Village Agents work with all ages dealing with a wide variety of issues, ranging from health and social care, to home safety, to relationships and debt. Your Village Agent is a local point of expertise, who knows where to find the right support for you. Village Agents also have the role of helping to shape services by feeding back to the appropriate body information about gaps in service e.g. transport provision. They can also motivate and support a community to respond to a local need by working together to address issues e.g. by helping them to set up a coffee morning for a group of lonely people or start a volunteer car scheme.
Being initially trialled in the Cheddar area, this website brings an additional element to the Village Agents project. By signing up below as a registered user of the website, you can contact your agent through a variety of online methods or book an appointment for a phone call or instant web chat.
